Lourdes O’Donohue Architects is a design led RIAI Registered Architectural Practice based in Ennis, Co. Clare.  Since its establishment in 2009, LODArchitects work has extended across a wide range of scales, budgets and contexts, yet we approach every project with the same dedication and meticulous attention to detail.

We pride ourselves on a strong client service.  Each building is the unique product of an ongoing discourse between architect and client regarding their specific brief, aspirations and a detailed investigation into the site and context.  Throughout this process, original ideas are conceived, tested and communicated through sketches, drawings, physical models and 3D computer modelling.

LODArchitects has experience in a wide range of project types ranging from domestic extensions to commercial and public buildings.  We provide leading design knowledge through the entire design process including practice management, planning, contractual and construction expertise.  We collaborate closely with clients, professional consultants and expert craftspeople to ensure the ambitions of projects are met and exceeded.

MY PROCESS

BRIEF

Each project begins with an initial meeting, the purpose of which is to discuss the clients specific brief, aspirations for the project and also to gain an understanding of their desired design aesthetic.  Agreeing a realistic budget is important at this stage to ensure that the clients needs can be met.

SITE

Comprehensive analysis of the site and context combined with the clients brief, wholly informs the layout and approach to the buildings configuration on the landscape.  Each location and client brings with it a unique set of offerings and constraints which come together and inspire the concept behind the proposal.

DESIGN

We believe any intervention should sit quietly on the landscape.  It should pay homage to the vernacular in a contemporary form yet not dominate it.  Attention to detail is hugely important at LODArchitects. We are interested in the tactility of opposing materials, and look to traditional details which appear modern in contrast to the way things are generally done.
