NEWHALL

  • Client: Private
  • Budget: Undisclosed
  • Size: 300 sq.m / 3230sq.ft
  • Stage: Completed 2013

The form and detailing of this modern home is influenced by the vernacular architecture of the region with narrow gables, subtle eaves detail, pitched roof and vertical emphasis on window openings. The massing is broken up by the different roof heights, volumes, materiality of the different elements and the varying external levels which correspond to the existing landscape and interior spaces. The solidity and mass of the house is diminished by the large glazed openings and low roof overhang of the entrance/ carport, creating a transitional space between inside and out.
